Did you ever notice that immigrants often have some of the same characteristics necessary to become a follower of Jesus?
- Willingness to leave family members and all that is familiar (Luke 14:25-27)
- Courage to embrace risk or loss in exchange for a greater reward (Matthew 13:44-46)
- Recognition that they are aliens in a foreign culture (1 Peter 2:11-12)
- Willingness to work harder, for less money, than natives (1 Corinthians 9:12)
For the past few months I've had the joy of teaching in
our church's
English as a Second Language ministry. If you are looking for a way to
build relationships with people for the purpose of sharing Jesus with
them, ESL/ESOL is a great avenue. If you don't know where to start,
the North American Mission Board has a wealth of resources on this page.
