We who speak English are really blessed to have the Bible available so easily to us. Think what a price some have paid in centuries past (even with their lives) to make the Bible readily available. And yet we neglect it L.
Here are some links to a few free online Bible tools you may not know about:
Tools that must be downloaded and installed in your computer
E-Sword. http://www.e-sword.net/ A very nice full featured Bible study program. Offers a large variety of Christian Bible study helps that can be added to the core program.
The Sword Project. http://www.crosswire.org/sword/index.jsp. Similar to E-Sword but “open source” which means eventually its features may exceed E-Sword’s.
Online Bible. http://www.onlinebible.net/ At one time the king of free Bible programs, Online Bible hasn’t kept up with the newcomers, but it’s still a nice and useful Bible program which has a few references that the others don’t.
Tools that can be used immediately via the Internet
Bible Gateway. http://www.biblegateway.com/ A great online Bible reference tool. Not as full featured as the above programs but faster when you just need a quick answer.
Blue Letter Bible. http://blueletterbible.org/ -- a very full featured online Bible reference tool. More cumbersome but more powerful than Bible Gateway.
The Unbound Bible. http://unbound.biola.edu/ -- has some languages that Bible Gateway doesn’t. A bit harder to use than Bible Gateway.
Christian Classics Ethereal Library. http://www.ccel.org/ Contains the World Wide Study Bible as well as many other classic Christian books. By far the most comprehensive of any of the tools – overwhelmingly so!
Do any of you have any favorites of your own you’d like to share?
